I do remember seeing this on TV, but don’t know if it was the Sullivan show or the circus.

Probably the Sullivan Show. I do know that when Emmet was performing there he often wandered into other acts. When Peggy MacDonald came on stage with the elephant, Opal, at one of Opal’s appearances Emmet was sitting on her prop steps. It appears there is an act ready to go on. Would have been the late 1950s.
