James Bros Circus 1969 #5

When I look at these old programs and letters the memories flood back and most certainly the friends that I worked with. Many of those dear ones are longer with us. Oh how I miss the old days!

Ohhhh-kay, I’ll play. I have memories of this circus, saw it as a kid ca 1968 in Phoenix, they set it up open-air in the parking lot of the big Woolco dept store on Grand Avenue. Didn’t the slide for life end with a “bang” ?? I also remember the wild animal trainer had long blond hair, a gal who – or…was it a man? Very (cough) masculine facial features.
But the act that really impressed was the balancing artistes, about 4 of them – the anchor man rode a bike, while doing a three-man shoulder-balance, then they repeated the trick again and again – the anchor man whipped out smaller and smaller bikes! The last bike was about a foot high at the handle-bars! An act with a very good build-up, it was my favorite.
I remember I got a souvenir kiddy bullwhip like the lion tamer used, wow. I never saw or heard of the James Bros again – not after this appearance. Allways wondered what happened to them.
Nice to know there’s some info about them on the net. Thanks for the memories!
