Great shot of a Jungleland lion cage wagon with tow bar attached to a military hook. I have to comment on that fine looking tractor. The photo was taken at the old front gate of Jungleland in the early 1930’s. At that time it was called Goebel’s Wild Animal Farm.

:Louis Goebel’s daughter, Alma, now Mrs. Paul Heil of Oregon, shared photos with me also taken on this day. This purchase of lions was being shipped to Clyde Beatty, who was then featured on Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus, which wintered in Peru, Indiana. The year was 1932. Beatty had a close association with Goebel, and knew well the quality of the big cats he could find in Thousand Oaks. He was not present for this series of photos.
