Chucko & Wally
Posted By thecircusblog on September 9, 2012
This was a publicity shot to promote Chucko’s circus. Wally Ross and baby Marjie were an important part of this promotion. One of the sponsors of the event stands to the right with Marjie. The baby elephant I believe came a from Jungleland? The photo here was shot around 1959 or 1960?

I have several copies of this picture. Wally and Chucko were great men and taught me a lot when I was growing up. My father, Roy Kabat, was manager and part owner of Jungleland for a number of years, and Wally and Chucko were wonderful mentors.
I have recently obtained photos, films and relics from Jerry Osborne in Kansas City who inherited a considerable amount of items from his Uncle who was Billy Richards. Mr. Richards, at one time, was part owner of Jungleland here in Thousand Oaks. Our museum is the only place that continues to solicit, beg, ask, for relics that can preserve this memory. Anyone with anything.. even ticket stubs or wagons (yes, I know of the ones in Baraboo) is urged to contact me at bswca@verizon.net or at stagecoachmuseum.org.
