Poodles Hanneford was a true legend as well as the Hanneford family. I still crack up at the sight of him swinging from a safety harness swimming in mid air and trying to catch up with a beautiful horse (Belgian I think) at full gate.
You will note whips in the photo. Not only was he a great bareback rider, he always did a whip cracking act in the concert. Even on the Floto show.
In the 1940s we lived next door to the Hannafords in North Hollywood, CA. I was very young but it was fun watching the Hannafords practice in their back yard ring. They even let me ride one of their horses. As I recall they had four white horses.
