On this cover of “Are Clowns Hatched” is a rare combination photo of Charles “CHUCKO” Runyon (Dad) both ‘In face and Out’.
Dad’s ambition in life was to define, portray, and answer the question. What is a ‘REAL CLOWN’? Since that definition was created in the minds and eyes of a child, his ‘Life was loaded with Highs and Lows and the pay was in Smiles and laughter.
Appropriately, the last chapter is titled, An End of an Era. With Jungleland going to auction, the closing of the Party House and a television courier spanning over 10 years. Chuck and Millie Runyon decided to “Hang it up on a High Note.
In 1973 Chucko was reborn with my portrayal on Circus Vargas and once again retired by me in1995.
Many thanks to Ivan Henry and thecircusblog for allowing me to share my version of The Jungleland Story through the eyes of a teenager who will never forget the sound of the gavel, when the auctioneer announced and that brings us to the close of the auction and the end of an era.
Yours truly,
Randy Chucko Runyon aka “CHUCKO” Jr.
