This photo is one of the best publicity photos of Allen King. As seen here he would autograph these photos for his friends and fans. This autograph photo went to a personal friend Elmer Hogan who was a boxer in the 1920’s.

Elmer Hogan is my grandfather. Actually his name was Elmer Stanley DePlanche.

Had the please of meeting Allen on my first year on the road in 1934. We stopped on the jump from my FIRST fair at Ionia, Michigan to Minnesota State fair. Allen was at the World’s Fair in Chicago. Had quiet a visit with “Chubby” and Harriet Guilfoyle who were
working for my dad, W.A. King at this time. “Chubby” was my first teacher when he was breaking the first act I worked with 5 male and 5 female lions and a Belgin Shepherd dog named Trixie.
