John Robinson Circus #1
Posted By thecircusblog on April 14, 2012
This photo was taken July 4th, 1910. Litchfield, Ill. What a grand parade this was and look how close the spectators were. Impossible to do a parade such as this in our time. This is truly a testament to how our society has degenerated. Clearly, back then they were responsible citizens who knew how to behave.

Ivan,
This photo was taken in 1910. This cage was one of the famed cottage cages that had square towers on all four corners. The wagon was busted up preety good in a train accident in 1905. During the winter, the cage was salvaged bu the towers were scrapped.
Also the title will be of some confusion. The John Robinson’s 10 Big Shows title was used until 1911 when they closed for good. In 1916, Mugivan and Bowers bought the show for the famed John Robinson title and the John Robinson’s 10 Big Shows title was again used in 1916 but changed to just the John Robinson Circus after that. So any photo or artifact with the John Robinson Circus as a title is 1917 or later.
