This photo was taken at the New York Hippodrome. The actual year is unknown to me, but I would guess some time in the 1920’s……..Need help on a date……………….. Bob Cline has another great comment. I agree Bob on the date 1915.

I found a newspaper article in the Children’s section of the JUNIOR EAGLE out of Brooklyn, NY on Sun. Nov. 14, 1915 on page 1 that listed two baby elephants as BABY MINE and CHIN CHIN as part of the Power’s Elephants. So even though we have a question of which elephant is here, it seems favorable that this photo would be from the 1915 era.

I was just looking through lots of elephant pictures at my mother in law’s house. She is the grand daughter of Julia Powers. My mother in law is 86.
I thought I would look on-line to see if there were any items about the elephants and your blog is all I could find!
I am the great niece of George (O’Brien) Powers first wife. Would love to find a connection to Jeannette his daughter. Teresa where does Julia fit?

also on the timeline Jeanette his daughter was born in illinois in 1914-1915 timeframe. So that may factor as to when this picture was taken in NY
