For a very brief time, Jane dressed to match her husband, with the idea presented that she might continue the arena career of the late Harriett Beatty (1909-1950). These photos were widely released, but Jane’s background was as a singer-commedienne, and this is as close as she got to the arena. She was so terrified of the wild animal act, that she only watched her husband work once in their 14-year marriage.
