Clyde Beatty got top billing over Pat O’Brien and Mickey Spillane…..now that’s BIG! If you have not seen this movie please do so. This movie can be rented at any video store.

The movie is also in a three-picture DVD package, out of Batjac Productions, John Wayne’s company, which produced RING OF FEAR, for the Duke’s friend and drinking buddy, Clyde Beatty. Incredibly, rather than a representative shot of Beatty and his cats, latter-day advertising features photos of Spillane and co-star Marion Carr. The movie fell to the old circus jinx plot, with Sean McClory as crazed Ringmaster Dublin O’Malley, out to ruin Beatty and wreck the show–mostly over his jealousy for Carr. It was largely McClory’s picture, with Beatty having comparatively little screen time other than that of his act. I met McClory during tapings of the California Artists Radio Theatre, in Hollywood, and will be forever grateful to have known this amiable Irishman. We hit it off like old friends, and he told me hours of stories about this film.
