“I got a big barrel of root beer” he’d walk around saying and then a dog would pop out of barrel. I think they were with Ted Dewaynes show when I started as a kid…he was like a grandpa to me and I love that photo…I don’t remember his history but I am pretty sure Great European clown would work…

That’s my mom & dad. From later in life. Dad came to US in 1914 with my Grandparents as the headliners on the Ringling Show. Grandma’s stage name was Olympia DesVall. Two uncles Joe Novell and Max Novell were also performers. Uncle Max involved with USO during war and performed for the troops in Europe. Later was an executive with AGVA. If you have to ask, you weren’t with it. We worked many circuses as well as vaudeville, night clubs, fairs and even some TV.
Emanuel Goudsmit was my great-uncle. Thanks for the photograph.
