Robert “Hap” Henry’s elephant Marie, doing a little promo with Larry Finley. Los Angels, CA. A few years later while doing a show with Rudy Bros, at a ballpark in one of the suburb cities of Los Angeles a horrible incident accrued. Hap finished the act with Marie his elephant and was running with Marie back to the semi to load up. It was the last performance of the evening and there was a heavy due on the grass making it slippery. My uncle Hap fell while running and Marie by accident kicked him in the back of his head. Only by chance a few performers saw what happened and came to assist him. Hap was severely hurt, He needed hospital attention, which he received. There was not much the doctors could do for him, except wait. After two weeks they sent him home. My father and I went to visit him again, I am so happy that we did, a few days later he passed away from his trauma.
