Ivan – You mentioned in your comment under Val Setts about the Van Wick clubs. Props are such an important part of an act that the audience probably never gives a thought to. Don also used Van Wick clubs (we also have a Van Wick rolling globe which was given to us by chimp-trainer Buddy Watkins). Don”s unicycle was custom built for him, being built especially for the trick where he took the wheel over the edge of the table. Motorcycle spokes were used in his wheel. The table shown in these photos was the first one he had but it was not suitable for the act. It had nine legs and would walk all over the stage with the constant back and forth motion on it. It took an engineer over one year to figure out a design for the table which would keep it in place and be fairly reliable and still be portable enough to get it on and off stages quickly.
Carol, is this a very young Bonnie assisting him in the act?
