The Capell Family
Posted By thecircusblog on September 19, 2008
From Left to Right: Doc, Mame, Bill, Bob and Jack Capell. A great circus family. They later built a carnival with their circus. In 1975 Henry Bros. joined the Capell Bros. show.

Thank you Ivan:
for giving us the Circusblog it has been a great help to our family for my wife Cynthia Lynn Goodsen especially since the loss of her father James Charles Goodsen, otherwise known as Blackie, you see he was part of the circus and carnival life for more than a decade of his life if not more ,and he spoke fondly of his memories of Doc , Mame ,and Bill Capell, Bill Capell was like a brother to him, he Dorothy Anne Dibble of Oshkosh spoke of the many different show they put on, and carnival attractions the six cat ,the nickle roll, the hill billies that would walk down the midway with shotguns in hand in Arkansas, a side show show called the unborn, they had some pet muskrats and his his friend Sam that painted the man eating muskrats sign for the Capell’s show , SAM was an artist for the carnival, Blackie also traveled with the Cole Brothers circus and he spoke of the time when they played Phoenix when Bobby Daren sang beyond the sea,He loved climbing the Ferris Wheel and setting it up, we some how lost track of his connections to the circus and carnivals, and since my wife and I have two boys now Christopher Charles Johnson 14 years old ,and Isaac Josiah Johnson 10 years old, they ask a lot of questions about their grandpa blackie and his life in the circus and carnival and since thier grandpa died in 1989 these are questions that we could not have answered without this blog , answers that we felt they had a right to as part of their heritage because thier grandpa because the circus and carnival are what made him who he was,so for us the circus blog has been a great help in visiting the many photos and comments that are posted here its like our kids now can fell their part of this large circus family as they truly are, their grandpa Blackie was liked by all who got to know him and remembered fondly by all , he treated his family wonderfully, he called my wife his little caboose because she has beautiful red hair and she was his last child and she followed him around wherever he went, he was borne 03-03-1924 and died in 1989 he leave behind Dorothy Anne Dibble of Oshkosh
Diane Sue Banks of Tucson and two daughters of Tucson Patrica [Pattie] Goodsen and Cynthia [Cindi] Lynn Goodsen now Johnson and three grand children Christopher Isaac and Tiffany Goodsen , Pattie’s daughter, so it is with are sincere gratitude to the circus blog , we are also proud of our heritage
Hey ! Just a FYI, I believe the Capell’s also had owned an amusement park they bought in the late 70’s early 80’s called Legend city in Phoenix, Az. (Hopefully it’s the right Capell family) Tried to revise it to it’s forme glory but sadly closed in 1983-86 not sure. But Legend city was great fun in my youth!
Thanks Ivan !
