Ivan, many years ago I was a friend with Johnny,
Alicia and Armida..In fact,In fact,for a couple of years I was considered
Alicia’s boyfriend..I met them while working at Seabrand Brothers Circus and Carnival..
I also knew Maurice..Maurice was a few years older than Johnny and I so didn’t spend much time with him. I ran into Armida in 1954 ( I think) At that time she was performing her wire act with the Clyde Beaty Circus..I would be greatful for any information you could give me on Johnny,Armida and Alicia….
sincerely,
Leslie (Les) Patton
Thank you so much for posting these photos! Do you mind if I download them to print for my husband? His father was an Escalante, and his aunt (I’m not sure which one she was) used to tell him tales of his family’s days with the circus. His grandpa was Nick Escalante, who played the bass in the Desilu orchestra.
This message is by chance?
My mother (Nellie) Trapeze performer and father(Eluterio) Rodriguez, used to be in the circus, as a matter of fact my father played with his brother in the Gutierrez circus band in the 1940’s, I remember my mother talking about the escalante circus. Not sure if my parents were performers for the escalante circus, however we are doing our family history ,and trying to get is much family history as possible.
Sincerely,
Daughter,Maryann Rodriguez
