Bertha May Henry
Posted By thecircusblog on July 11, 2010
Daughter of James Edward and Mabel Chase Fairbanks Henry. Bertha was the oldest of all the Henry children. Bertha started preforming at the age of 12 in her fathers one ring circus. By the time my aunt Bertha was 18 she had learned seven different acts that included three animal acts and later accomplished “Iron Jaw”. This is not uncommon when you are born and raised in the circus. My aunt was a sweetheart of a lady and a fine cook. She often worked in the circus cook house with my grandmother Henry.
