The Young Clyde Beatty
Posted By thecircusblog on May 10, 2010
This is a very early photo of Clyde Beatty. It was taken in 1926 0n the Hagenbeck & Wallace circus owned by the American Circus Corp…. Bert Bowers and Jerry Mugivan. In 1928 the show was sold to John Ringling. Actually the following is is a little known fact. There was a dispute between Ringling and Madison Square Garden over the show dates. The Garden people decided to bring in the Sells Floto circus for its spring engagement. When Ringling found out this angered him so he bought out the American circus corp which also owned the Sells Floto circus. This move brought the Gardens to agree with John Ringling.
