James Patterson Elephants
Posted By thecircusblog on March 25, 2010
Other than eating, elephants love to play in the mud and water. Some fun is had at the Patterson show water wagon. Look closely on the side of the wagon for the Patterson name. Photo early 1920’s

I grew up in Paola, KS where the Patterson Circus wintered for many seasons in the early 20th century. I am so happy to see a photo from Pattersons. They are a special part of our local heritage.
My husband & I own and renovated the former home of James Patterson in Paola, KS. I have many, many photos of his circus and family over the years but I had never seen this one. Thanks! I would question the date you have listed on the photo as he was out of the circus business by the end of the 1925 season.
