Wallace Beery was born April 1, 1885 In  Kansas City Missouri. At the age of sixteen he joined the Ringling Bros Circus. His first responsibility was a groom with the elephants. Then later he became a herdsmen. His job was bringing in the elephants to the ring and working the bull tubs. Yes he worked with the elephants for two years, but he never was a trainer as some say. Beery loved the circus and he might have stayed with it if it wasn’t for a mishap with a leopard that clawed  him quite severely.  He left the circus in 1913 and moved to Chicago and went to work for Essanay Studios. Beery was now on his way to a fantastic acting career. In 1917 Wallace Berry portrayed Pancho Villa, at the time Villa was still active in Mexico.  MGM Studios seventeen years later reprised the movie it  became a big hit .
