Ron Nix was another of our features at Legend City. Ron did and old west cowboy reenactment. At the back portion of Legend City we had a western town where Ron put on different stunt shows. The train would stop to let passengers see the show and at times Ron and his gang of stunt men would pretend to rob the customers ……………… Of course all was returned……. I think.

Ron took falls that would kill most people. He had a natural talent for stunts. His timing and strength kept him safe, even in high falls. Ron would do 5 to 6 stunt shows a day. he seemed to never wear out.

Ron is making his way up the Sky-ride tower, as two members of his stunt team watch.

The fall is perfect. At the right time he will turn to his back and land into flaming boxes.

Ron Nix to my knowledge has never been duplicated in this high fall. Notice how close he is to the burning boxes. Unbelievable cat like reflexes.

The crew puts out the burning boxes. I stood over him, just making sure that he was OK. There was no question that I was concerned. The only thing that got shined was his wardrobe shirt, which we removed. To my left was my top security guard Dan. He said later I have never seen anything like this before. The free fall was over one hundred feet,

A few weeks ago Juliana Martinez found The Circus Blog. After a few emails to each other she sent me this poster of her grandmother Mamie. Harold Ward was Juliana’s father, so between Juliana and her dear friend Nikki Bell, I give thanks for the great photos of the Ward Bell flying act that you are about see. If any of you know the names of the other performers that are with the Ward Bells please comment. Concerning the circus poster above the date is unknown to me. I can only guess sometime in the 1930’s.
I want to thank John Shepherd and Janice Terrivno for their MUST read comments.

I got a comment from Dolly Mamie’s great granddaughter that this is not Mamie.
This is Jennie Ward.
Thanks for your comment.

Thanks Bob for your comment. You are right, this photo is hand tinted. Before color film was invented many professional pictures were hand painted after there development. Each picture was done separate. Then later the photograph was made into a master in which other could be printed from it. I am guessing that this photo was taken in the early 1930’s.
