This is Arthur Henry I just discovered. His age was 17. The make up is the give away. All the Henry brothers used the square mouth and a dot on the forehead, it was just a Henry thing. Most often in winter and the show was in the barn, Vaudeville at that was a money maker, not much, but enough to get you though the winter.

Arthur was the oldest of the Henry brothers. Where he got the nick name Bum from, I’ll never know.

Jimmy Conner son of Al and Bertha Conner. Jimmy doing a little performing for the camera before the show. I am guessing jimmy to be about 10 at the time of this photo. In the back ground Christy Bros cargo wagon.

I believe this to be a Christy cargo wagon. A wagon such as this one could be used for just about anything on the show.

This is Gype a grand old elephant that did just about everything on the show, from performing setting up the tent and then carried the circus band in parades.

I am some what sure this photo was taken in the mid 1930’s, maybe later. The person that took this photo was either Al Conner or Bertha Henry Conner, my Aunt.

Bert in his younger years, before his acting career was a circus performer, it is said good one at that. He and Nick Cravatt was life long friends. Nick was a pretty good tumbler so they say. Bert did single Traps and worked in a Perch act also horizonal bars. This was told to me by Shelby Jackson an old friend from years ago. Shelbe and Babe his wife did a horizonal bar act. Shelbe had worked with Bert on some little circus……as he put it. Some how the name Sam Catchume rings in my head that he Sam owned this circus. I wish I could remember more of Shelbes and my conversation. It has been to many years.
