The tiger in this photo is Rajah, one of her lead cats and most likely her favorite. This is a very old picture of Mabel, I am thinking some time in the 1930’s. This photo is from her book Hold That Tiger written in 1938. Thanks to Mary Jo Knolls Winter, I now have the book……….. Photo taken on the Al.G. Barnes Circus.
Great comment by Randy Runyon.

This is a Harry Quillen photo shot in 1943 on the Escalante Circus. It lasted for a season plus a few months the following year. The war had a great deal to do with the closing of the show. During the war circuses of all types were combining or closing and performers scattered, as did Maurice. Maurice went with the Gutierrez family. Later they joined the 101 Wild West Show & Circus then on to Siebrand Bros Circus.
The next photo is of the Escalante Circus.
Melissa thank you for your comment.

Norman Prather is shown holding his hands up in the celebrating his new snake show. I remember quite well the day. While Norman was cleaning out the snake pit, he got nailed by a python. It took Dad and several other men 30 minutes to get the snakes jaws opened from his arm. Siebrand Bros 1953.
