Jose was one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. He came from an old Mexican circus family. When he came to this country he brought with him a musical comedy act and believe me it was laugh a minute. His instruments were frying pans, beer and wine bottles, or anything else he could find that could be tuned to a music scale. He would then play them like a marimba. It was a unique act of old Mexican and American tunes mixed with funny one-liners.
Photo 1985.
Please read comment from Randy Runyon.

Seen here is Jose playing the frying pans, most likely the tune was Rancho Grande. I first met Jose in 1956. My family went to visit the Escalante family in Los Angeles. Henry and Lalo decided to take us all out out for a Mexican dinner at Alvera St, a small Latino area where there were restaurants, night clubs etc. A great little place to go where one could find dancing and entertainment. After our dinner we all went over to the night club where Jose was doing his act. Everyone knew him but me. After his part of the show he came to our table. I was introduced and throughout the years we became fast friends. Jose played not only club dates but fairs, circuses and did many motion pictures. He played himself as a little funny innocent, honest Mexican vaquero opposite John Wayne, Glen Ford and many others. May God bless him. A great performer and a great friend of mine. Photo Dec. 1985.
Thanks Randy for the comment concerning Jose.

This is Bobby Kay in his younger years. He was flamboyant with his wardrobe and his clown attitude. Bobby Kay never stop being FLAMBOYANT.
I want to Thank Lee Stevens for correcting a name mistake. On the back of this photo the name Mingo was written. I took it to be a photo of him. I am glad I have friends that are willing to help keep the circus blog true and correct in it’s content. Lee….Thanks again.

Once a clown always a clown. Randy Runyon seen here in the center of this ad doing a little clown two-step. Randy is the son of Chuck Runyon “Chucko” the birthday clown, who had his own television show in Los Angeles, Calif for several years. Randy himself followed in his father’s foot steps as Chucko Jr. The wardrobe and make-up was an exact replica of his father’s. I have to tell you, Randy is a terrific clown and a fine person as well. So if anyone is looking for a clown with talent, here is his phone 661-621-1025.
Randy thank you for the up date on other things you are doing.
