As you can see, loading up the boat was quite a chore. It would take many hours. Animals, performers & equipment had to go on the same boat. E.K. Fernandez was one of the nicest circus owner I have ever worked for….he was a true gentleman and showman.

Chief Sugarbrown can be seen in the center with the drum. This was a crowd pleaser! It was my favorite part of the show.

Johnny was one of the best on the slack wire. In this photo he is doing an act called the “drunk”. The antics on the wire were hilarious.

Bertha was oldest of all J.E. Henry’s children . She performed “Iron Jaw” in the show. She also helped in the cook house. Later she was married to Al Conners.

These are the cars used by the advance man and the 24 hour man . They would go from town to town ahead of the show and hang paper on barns, fence posts or anywhere you could hang circus advertisement for the show. They also took care of any last minute business and going to the post office, or what ever. […]
