These four pages on the Miller Johnson Circus were provided by Casey Gibbs, a long time friend.
Dad and I were with Charlie Germaine for part of that season of 1968. Then in 1969 a full season. Charlie Allen and Bev were also there with there bear act, also Beverly helped Germaine in the office. Letters contracts, etc.

My question is, what circus was this. Beatty, or Cole. On the ad it just says railroad circus. Many circuses would present a TV or Movie star to bump up the attendance. Most of the time the star did a personal appearance in center ring during the show and later sign autographs. This ad was taken out in 1956.

We were playing at the Roaring 20’s a venue at the Hoyt Hotel Portland Oregon. I believe it was 1968? Our agent Cindy Bardine booked us in for six weeks. However the owner of the Hotel Mr Harvey Dick wanted the act to stay for another 8 weeks, we were delighted to do so. Our season was complete Dad had booked Fairs form the end of April to November. It turned out to be a good year for us.

Clyde Beatty seen here with his hand upon the head of an Hippopotamus. I believe at that time he worked as a animal handier. I wonder if he ever thought that he would become a great animal trainer and own one of the largest circuses in America.
