Bucky Steel

Bucky Steel presenting his elephant in a one leg stand. I’m not sure what circus or year this was taken at. The last time I worked with him was on the Gatti Charles Circus in the 1960’s.

It was around 1962 in Medicine Hat, Alberta Canada when Buck Steele came to town with his elephants, tiger and I think three or four bears.
A friend of mine who knew Buck told me to contact him and say hello.. I did and the next thing you know I’m shoveling elephant poop into a barrel after the girls ran in a circle for a while to clean them out. I remember Buck saying “trunks and tails girls.” And to this day when my wife and I are in the mall and there are some very overweight ladies walking around I whisper “trunks and tails girls.”
I was an x-ray tech at the local hospital and knew nothing about elephants. Now I’m not certain that we are talking about the same Buck Steele. Is there any way to find this out? I have a couple of other stories about the three days I was on poop patrol.
