I find this picture of Pat Anthony so very moving. While my parents were still ‘dating’ and living in California, one of their favorite pastimes was to go to the World Jungle Compound and watch Melvin Koontz and Pat Anthony work with the lions and tigers. They became good acquaintances of Messrs. Koonz and Anthony. I have pictures made there of my mother sitting on Jackie’s back, my dad stradling Jackie and some other poses. These were fun time for my parents. Some years later — in the mid-50’s — my dad took us to the Shrine Circus where Pat Anthony had the lion act. My dad got to see him behind the scenes and gave him some pictures he had made of him at the World Jungle Compound. I treasure these pictures I have of my parents with Jackie, the MGM Lion.
