The log ride was one of the most popular of all the rides at Legend City. In the center of the log ride lagoon is where the tallest sky ride tower was located.

Once Ron Nix reaches the tower and is ready to jump, the cardboard boxes are put ablaze. These boxes have their corners cut from them. This does two things….. air escapes faster for a better softer landing and it stops any possible punctures to Ron’s body.

Ron Nix waves to he crowd on his way up to the work platform. It also serves as a guide rail for the sky ride gondolas.

Just above the burning boxes, Ron’s legs tuned up. He has made a half turn to land on his back. After he hit the firey boxes, he then rolled out and off the dock into the water….and not one scorch was on his wardrobe.

Ron is now on the dock making his way toward me and then to the audience. It only took a few seconds to burn away the boxes, but our friendship lives on to this day.

THIS IS THE HIGH FALL DIVE………..The photo was shot on an angel to try to get as much tower as possible. Ron can barely be seen as he jumps from the workers platform directly under the cable rails. Remember this jump was over a 116 foot. The total height of the towers was 135 feet.
