This photo is a human interest shot catching people just being themselves at the circus. This photo was taken in 1936. The circus at that time was bigger than life. It brought people from their homes to see the majestic big top and the excitement of the performance that was held there.

Gollmar Bros Circus band, photo taken in 1907. I want to thank John Shepherd for his informative comment. The top photo came from Chuck Finley. He wrote that this photo was used as a post card. It is obvious that these photos are different from each other.
