This photo had to be taken in the early 1950’s. It also is another surprise for me. Tommy really never spoke much about his past or what circuses he was on but I will guess Kelly Miller.

Unknown circus. It might be Hoxie? The date of photo mid 1940’s? I must have over a thousand pictures from Tommy’s collection, most of which have very little if any information on them. Any help would be appreciated.

Izzy and her friend. The native American is from the Pima tribe. Native Dancers come form all over to compete in their dance and costumes. There is a special area on the fair grounds where this competition takes place. Isabel was captivated by the numerous dancers.

Isabel, my granddaughter, wanted to go to the Indian Fair and she dressed for the occasion. It was hot and dusty but that did not stop her from having a great time.

It is very common to see 15 different tribes numbering 3 to 4 hundred people in this dance competition . The fair was only a 3 day celebration. Each day started early and ended late in the evening. City of Fun played the spot. The show is owned by Lou Melendez. I had a nice […]
