Chief Joseph with his Lead Horse
thecircusblog | January 30, 2009
Bob had a great sense of humor, so I guess he wouldn’t mind if I said he looked a little “pale face” in this photo…..Now ain’t that a peach. (This punch line would only be understood by old time cowboys like Bob)

Joanne Hofmeister

I never saw her act, but she is a Hofmeister so it had to be a good liberty drill. Joanne was a Radio City “Rockette” in the early 1950’s.

Father and daughter doing their comedy mule act. It was a big success at rodeos.

I have never seen this trick before, but leave it up to Bob Hofmeister to do it. I notice the gimmick on the back of the barrel to keep it from going backwards.
Bob’s Burro

This is a picture of Bob Hofmeister’s roller skating burro. To my knowledge…this act is one of a kind. The little fellow actually roller skated and delighted the crowd. The skates were made to go forward only.
Porter Simm’s Pony Drill

I don’t think you could find a better matched or better trained group of ponies. This is a 6 abreast line up which would move in unison left and right and then reverse within the ring. It was beautiful to watch.
