Rubeun Castang was said to be one of the finest great ape trainers of his time. I believe this to be true because of the numerous chimp trainers that praised him…and that includes myself. He is the benchmark for great ape trainers.

Left to right is Pat Anthony, Dick McGraw and Stephano Repeteto. These three became great lion and tiger trainers…each with their own personality apparant in their acts. Louie Goeble’s Lion Farm and the World Jungle Compound, later called Jungleland, most likely is responsible for more wild animal trainers than I can think of. Mel trained this lion for motion picture work. To his surprise and much to his financial good, this lion became one of three lions that were the M.G.M. logo at the beginning of their movies. SEE COMMENT BELOW.

Pat Anthony was one of a kind. He worked hard in his act and he made it exciting to watch. I never saw him ever present a boring act….. it just wasn’t in him to do so.
