C &B #5How true it was. In the old days a circus showed on any lot they could find, even a farmers field.  The greater majority of them were not nice as they were dirty and dusty. We took it for granted and did what we had to do to get the show ready. Thanks to a good big top crew and performers, the lot became a show place. One of our prayers were…. ” Please God don’t let it rain” as taking down a big top in mud is a task. Then because of the mud being pulled off the lot by elephant or tractor, it takes hours.  If we got lucky we might have a grass lot at the next spot.

C B #7I don’t know this as being a fact, but I think at one time Carson and Barnes had the largest herd of elephants of any circus.

C&B #9I noticed in this program that the performer’s names were not mentioned. Perhaps you may see someone you know. This program is 40 or more years old.

Billy ” Prince Najves” Barton #1

Billy BartonBilly was one of the most flamboyant performers I have ever known. He was giddy, witty and always fun to be around. In the ring or out he was the center of attraction. The act he did is called cloud swing. It was better than any of the other cloud swing acts I have seen , but he sold his act in way that truly excited the audience. Billy Barton was one of a kind and that’s the way he wanted it.
