Tommy and Clancy

Here is a little known fact: Charles Clancy seen in this photo started Bentley Bros Circus in 1977. Three years later Tommy was put in the spotlight, but Clancy always was the back bone of the circus. That is the way Tommy wanted it.  He was the showman!

This photo gave me the hint that of one of the circuses Tommy performed in was the Kelly Miller Circus. Look to the outside center left. The date is unknown to me.

This photo had to be taken in the early 1950’s. It also is another surprise for me. Tommy really never spoke much about his past or what circuses he was on but I will guess Kelly Miller.

Unknown circus. It might be Hoxie? The date of photo mid 1940’s? I must have over a thousand pictures from Tommy’s collection, most of which have very little if any information on them. Any help would be appreciated.

Tommy Bentley & Friends

I have three to four hundred photos that Clancy Charles sent me for the circus blog. The greater majority of them I don’t have any info about so I will need your help.  In this photo, left is Tommy. The person in the middle is unknown to me, Mingo is on right. Photo most likely was taken in the late 1950’s or early 1960’s and may have been on the Rudy Bros Circus .

Isabel,  my granddaughter,  wanted to go to the Indian Fair and she dressed for the occasion. It was hot and dusty but that did not stop her from having a great time.
