Watching The Tip
Posted By thecircusblog on July 23, 2011
Butte, Montana, in the early 1950’s. Sitting on the running board of the pick up truck in the right side of this photo is P.W. Siebrand. Now the Siebrands did have a very plush office but Pete loved to watch the tip. He would spend his afternoons walking around the midway. Quite often you could see him in the audience enjoying the acts in the circus. You would always know when he was close by because of the aroma from the pipe that he smoked.

I believe this is Dale Longmeyers. He was with Bentley Bros Circus in the 1980’s……… Please read the comments made by Lee Stevens and Bob Momyer, This clown could be Bruce Warner.
Thanks Bob for your comment.
Phoenix Arizona State Fair 1960’s
Posted By thecircusblog on July 23, 2011
I found this old photo and although it ‘s been folded several times one can still make out the picture. It is a rare shot of the carnival midway that is laid out in a shot gun fashion eg a straight line. This is not often done but this is the way the state fair did it in 1959. In front of the grandstand is an outdoor stage for the professional entertainment. They also have a race track. Years ago there was horse racing and it was very popular. In the early 1960’s it became a race track for stock cars and even the high profile Indie cars. Later in the mid 1960’s the coliseum was built changing the whole look of the fair grounds. The area that you see in this photo is now the parking lot for independent vendor’s. At the present time the Ray Cammack Carnival plays the spot as of 2011and 2012.

Rudy Bros Circus

I believe this photo is of Eloise Berchtold and Morgan Berry on the Rudy show in the 1969 or early 1970’s? I am not going to repeat the story of both of their tragic deaths. I will only say they were fine people and missed by those who knew them.

I never saw this lady perform her cannon act although I wish I had. Years ago I saw Hugo shoot himself over two Ferris wheels. That was thrilling to witness.
