I wish I knew the name of this show. It looks like this was a free show at one time. Note the ticket Box sign with the prices. At these prices the photo had to be taken late 1950’s or early 1960’s.

I think this photo was taken sometime in the 1950’s? I remember seeing their show in 1956? when they played El Monte, California. Many years ago I met a fine man by the name of Chester Cable, who at that time was doing a foot juggling act and I will add…it was a very strong act. Chester told me that he had worked on the Cristiani show and at that time he was a candy butcher. Since then he has become remarkably successful in show business. Now and again I give him a call just to cut up old jack pots.

Clown as an Indian. His name unknown to me. Most likely this gag was a walk-around. For those who do not know what a “walk-around is”. Each clown on the show had their own individual wardrobe skit. All would walk in line around the hippodrome. This would allow time for the prop crew to set up for a large three ring display or rigging aerial acts. This was a much needed time killer while the audience was amused by the funny antics. Makes me think of Lou Jacobs, his walk around was hilarious.

Sorry to say, I do not know this performer’s name. I am sure that someone may recognize her. She performing a back anchor…however it’s possible she could have been starting a routine of lunges.

This Orchestra was one of the highlights of Lakemont Prak. As I walked though the park on my usual rounds, I noticed that something was missing. The promotions brought families, kids and teenagers but there were no seniors. That is when I pondered what would work to want them to visit Lakemont as they did years before. By sheer luck I found Fred Shannon Smith. I hired him and advertised his orchestra promotion as “The Answer to your Memories”. He played two days in the Casino to a packed house. I learned a great lesson by what I had done. You cannot entertain just one segment of a town’s population, it has to be all of them. The seniors were a part of Lakemont Park.

He and his Orchestra were the perfect addition to Lakemont Park. July of 1988.
