It seems to me that in this photo that they kept the elephants and other animals in a open attraction on the midway entrance to the circus. Dan and Benny are seen here. As I understand it Dan was Benny’s right hand man.

Benny is near Anna May, next is “Panic” his real name Dwayne? The third person’s name is unknown to me. Dan stands under the awning. Panic was the groom for Benny. It seems that when Benny or Dan would tell him to do something …… he would panic. That how he got his nick name “Panic”. I know this to be true about how circus people give their workers nick names. I have done so myself. The reason may be because we fo get the workers first name or they have a little quirk about them that causes us to give them a nick name. Giving a nick name to a worker is not done to hurt or demean him or her. It is done with a kind heart.

This is another photo taken by Mary Pyle Zabora in the late 1970’s. She said I think it is Buckles Woodcock?……….. It does look like him. I remember Buckles without a beard. It is difficult for me to make a judgement.

Benny and Dan are having a serious circus type conversation…..”I don’t know what do you think? Well I don’t know what do you think? and so it goes. These enlightened types of conversations have always taken place with circus people in the back yards of circuses and for that matter anywhere.
