Ray Chandler allowing a friendly touch from a passer by. A personal note….. I wish that in all the years I knew and worked with Ray that I should have said to him …”Ray I have never known anyone like you, your a man of many talents and excellent at all of them”………….. I am not getting soft but maybe its a good to complement those we know now, rather than later!

P.T.Barnum Part #2

Posted By on December 13, 2012

The following posts of P.T. Barnum presents a problem in my being able to explain what type of medium they are. A few are live photos others are lithographs done in  ink or in pencil scratching. In the collection of negatives that I have I ran across 30 or more of P.T. Barnum’s illustrations. After I made positive pictures it seemed to me that they may have been exhibited in his American museum in New York?  It is quite possible before the museum was totally destroyed by fire, someone took photos of this art work. Perhaps there is a person that can shade some light on this wonderful piece of history.

P.T Barnum 1881 “War Chariot of India”. United States presidents presented on top. This may have been the drawing plans for the construction of this wagon. I do not have an actual photo.

This is an actual photo of P.T. Barnum’s 1873 orchestra band wagon. “Orchestmelachor”

Bob Cline has named this wagon correctly in his comment. A must read. Thanks Bob.

The notes say P.T. Barnum American Museum….. there were no dates.  Is it possible that this along with the other illustrations were destroyed in the fire?  I discovered that the fire took place July 13, 1865.

This is a  photo of an illustration of the 1881 Golden Horse Band Wagon. Here again very little information. It surely is fine art with a great deal of imagination.

There was no information on the negative envelope. Maybe this is the home of Mr. Barnum ??
