Advertising the local merchants made extra money for the circuses. In the old days the advance man or men sell banners names in the programs, even made special announcements by the Ring Master. Read Jim Elliot’s comment. Thanks Jim! Also check out Casey Gibbs comment

For myself working under the canvas was something grand. Buildings, outdoors. fairs, shopping center gigs, not to forget Las Vegas, Etc. Can not compare. A Circus belongs in the BIG TOP.

The Native Americans played a large part in many of our circuses. They either performed in the after show or as a special attraction or both. They would sing and dance in full costume.
