Dutch was always at our trailer looking for treats from my Mother . This is the same trailer that Dutch or Babe broke into at the back door and took me from the trailer during a circus lot fire. It is some what hard to explain I only remember small portions of the incident. The fire took place just before the second shows in the back yard. It was a typical grass and weed fire, more smoke than a blaze. My father made the statement that because of my friend ship with both of these elephants there was a sensed my being in danger. My mother is now 89 years old. Not to long ago I asked her about the incident she remembered the fire clearly but did not remember who the elephant was that took me from the trailer. This is my thought. It is possible that one of the two Babe or Dutch sensed a danger for me and broke into the trailer to take me from it. Then again the elephant may have been looking for a place to hide? I have heard of animals that do things that save the lives of people, I am sure you have too. I guess you or I can interpret this any way we wish…….But it did happen. Quite often the elephants were lose and would always be roaming around our trailer. I had an attachment to both Babe and Dutch, they were just my big play pals……………. 1943.

Mr. Badley stands just under the clown with the tuba. The Royal Canadian Circus played throughout Canada from April to Sept. Mom and Dad spent the entire season there.

This is a mystery photo found in my mother’s scrapbook. No name or show, but it has to be the late 1800s. By the looks of the dummies and the stage back ground a vaudeville act.
