Ed.C.Learmont Letter Head
Posted By thecircusblog on December 13, 2008
Ed.C. Learmont had a wonderful hobby of the circus and the animals in it. It all started back in the late 1920’s with chimps. One of his chimps was named Cheeta. She worked with John Weismuller in the Tarzan pictures shot at the Jungle compound 1000 Oaks, CA in the 1930’s and early 1940’s. There Mr. Learmont met Mr. Louis Goble owner of Jungleland, and they became good friends. Ed had a successful parking lot business in Los Angelas……….. he owned most of them and did very well for years. Many of the photos concerning Mr. Learmont were given to The Circus Blog by Alan Schwartz. Update 6/26/09, After the death of Mr. Learmont, Henry Tindal Chimps at Jungleland was use at the studio for the Tarzan films. there were a few more trainers and Chimps but I do not remember their names.
