Darryl Ted Russ

On the risly bed is Ted Wayne, spotting is Russ Saunders and Darryl doing a feet to feet somersault. This is not an easy trick to preform. Ted was as strong as a bull and an expert at teaching acrobatics, and I might add there were none betterMany a great performer learned their craft from Ted Dewayne. Those who loved him called him “Bear”.

Darryl's Skt Summer Sault

This is a back yard snipe shot of Darryl Ferges practicing the ski somersault. I do not know where he got this crazy idea but it worked. I’ve never seen this trick done by anyone else. Most likely this is how Hot Dogging on snow skis got started………. Interesting comment made by Darryl Ferges…….. See blow click on comment.

I wish I had a better write up that was easier to read but in essence this one was all about his inventing the ski somersault.

Carol and Darryl

A couple of great kids. Ninety percent of their time was spent learning the business of performing. They succeeded in doing so and no matter what act they did, it was good. Photo taken in the early 1960’s on the Ted Dewayne circus.

Sad to say that the Jungleland Compound is no longer in Thousand Oaks, Calif. It was demolished many years ago. The only thing left are memories of great animal trainers and where movies were made. There was one other thing……….. A great place to winter.
