The Circus and the Clown. You will remember both but not one without the other.

Once in a great while a photo like this one stands out more than any of the others. I find this to be true of this one.

Al Antonucci Chimps #1

Posted By on August 1, 2011

Al Antonucci started his career with Ed C. Larmont in the late 1940’s. Mr Larmont owned many animals that were used in motion pictures and variety shows in and around Los Angeles. Chimps were among the animals that Al worked with. Later he started out with his own act and was popular on the theatrical stage and motion picture work.

Antonucci’s Chimps

Posted By on August 1, 2011

I met Al Antonucci when I was a young man, long before I was involved with chimps. We had one chimp Jackie that my mother worked. As for myself I had no desire to become a chimp trainer. I knew the great ones ….Ruben Castang, Henry Tyndall, Del Graham Sr. and others in our business. Al was different. He had fun working his act and maybe that is what inspired me and a little help with fate. It wasn’t but a few years later Dad acquired Harman’s Chimp, truck and all. I became a chimp trainer or was it the other way around. Thanks to my Dad and the knowledge of other chimp trainers I was able to create a fine chimp act.
