I have seen many rolling globe acts though out the years. In the Henry family it was a tradition, If you were a Henry you had a globe act…………. In my opinion I think that the Lacy Family had the best in the business.

As of today, I called Washington, DC, and spoke to the secretary of Congressman Grijalva. I explained to him my concerns regarding H.R. 3359 bill and the affect it would have on circus animal trainers etc. The secretary suggested that we email Congressman Grijalva at grijalva.house.gov …. telling him of our concerns.
It is important that you get in touch with your state representatives now! Otherwise we will have no right to complain.

This photo may be of Albert Fleet and his chimps? I am not to sure? This photo was in with assorted Clyde Beatty program covers that I have from 1944 and 1954. I know that Albert and Clyde were good friends. When Albert was on the show he always worked the safety door on Clyde’s arena.

In this photo Doc Capell is standing near the ticket box. Throughout the years Doc found it easier to rent out space to other side show owners. However this side show did belong to him. I got a phone call a day or so ago wanting to know how Doc came by the name of “Doc”. In “Doc” Henry N. Capell’s younger years he had a Punch and Judy show. He was also a ventriloquist and had several dummies that he worked school shows with. Then later he bought out a medicine show and began selling snake oil and other elixirs… which is how he became known as “Doc” Capell. The name just stuck with him throughout his life…….. Oh yes, I almost forgot, he was also a professional wrestler as well. Then came the circus and the carnival.

Some times banner lines would change in the middle of the season and present a totally new show. Just about every circus or carnival had a painter that could paint a banner line like this one in a few days. Versatility was the name of the game. You had to keep trying till you got a financial winner. In this small tent side show there was no rodeo. It was an audio talk show of how it was done in the rodeos through pictures of the real cowboys themselves. Kind of a how to be a cowboy if you had the notion. Capell Bros midway early 1940’s.
