If there was a parade somewhere you could bet Jungleland was in it. It was great advertisement for the compound. Yes, it is true Jungleland had M-G-M Leo. There were three different lions used for the logo throughout the years of M-G-M: Barnie, Toni, and Leo. Mel Koontz was the trainer for the two latter lions. Leos real name was Major he was also called Rusty.

All was successful at Jungleland…. UNTIL… The rest of the story comes now.

At The Hospital

Jayne Mansfield with her son Zoltan, he was mauled by a Jungleland lion. This was the beginning of the end for Jungleland.

Actress Jayne Mansfield comforts her 6-year-old son Zolton Hargity afterr he was attacked by a lion during a photo shoot at Jungleland in Thousand Oaks,  CA. Zolton was taken to Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura for six hours of surgery. He made a full recovery, but not before enduring two more surgeries.
