In the 1950’s addiction was just as worrisome as it is now. This show was met with some distain. but more over it had a big impact on the common public. The charge was 25 cents, stay as long as you like.

This show got more interest form police and city officials than anything on the midway. No matter where we played they knew it was coming and they made it a point to visit this show. As you can see the painting and language was very much in your face as well as being very suggestive. […]

Ma had a talent for taking a non-funny joke that all in the audience knew and disliked ….and in her unique way she could twist it into her own. It became hilarious, of coarse Pa was the brunt of it. They could do a complete show all by themselves.

Ma and Pa were master musicians and between the two they could play over fourteen instruments and every show they brought the house down. We worked with them for two seasons during the 1950’s and sadly…we have lost touch. I often think of them and the good times we had.

This was a spot that most of us decided to play. Most every day it was windy and the dust from copper mine slag would blow down into the circus arena. The white dirt and slag you can see at the top left of photo. In spite of the dirt dust and wind the people of […]

Douglas , Arizona. It was close to the border and in those years of the 1950’s it was alot of fun to visit old Mexico. Douglas was known for its copper mining and was quite active in the 1940’s. Auga Praeta Mexico was just a mile or so from the lot and made it easy for […]
