This photo is a human interest shot catching people just being themselves at the circus. This photo was taken in 1936. The circus at that time was bigger than life. It brought people from their homes to see the majestic big top and the excitement of the performance that was held there.

The only information that I have on this photo is the name Ken Maynard. Maynard was a cowboy movie star and he was a featured performer on Cole Bros Circus as well. However I have never known him to own a calliope. It could have been named after him?

It is hard to say where this photo was taken or on what show. It is an outdoor spot and I am guessing the date to be around 1949. Terrell was known as the “Lion King.”
